KD vs KDA: What's the Difference?
KD (kill/death ratio) counts only kills divided by deaths. KDA adds assists into the numerator, crediting players who contribute to kills without landing the final blow. Neither is "better" — they answer different questions.
| KD | KDA | |
|---|---|---|
| Formula | Kills ÷ Deaths | (Kills + Assists) ÷ Deaths |
| Rewards assists | No | Yes |
| Best for | Solo/BR skill check | Team-based shooters |
| Used in | BGMI, CS2, R6 Siege | Warzone, R6 Siege (secondary) |
| Inflated by | Chicken dinners / zero-death wins | Support-heavy playstyles |
Which one should you track?
If you play solo or a battle royale like BGMI, KD is the direct measure of duel-winning skill. If you play a squad-based shooter like Warzone or Rainbow Six Siege, KDA gives a fairer picture — a player racking up assists on a defensive playstyle can have a mediocre KD but a strong KDA.
